Scandinavian Kitchen

This is my first completed render of a realistic interior.

In total, about 30h was spent on it over the course of 3 months. (not including render times)
20% of the time was spent gathering, organizing and preparing reference images.
40% of the time was spent modeling and framing the shot.
30% of the time was spent texturing and lighting.
10% of the time was spent compositing.

Included in the gallery is the render passes used.

Most of the passes were used as luma mattes for adjustment layers, as i used the beauty render for the background layer.

The built-in noise pass from octane was desaturated, then used as a guide pass to denoise the image.

Beauty render and passes rendered in 2h, but with optimizations it could be brought down to 30 minutes. (32 ray bounces might be a bit overkill)

Esalwa Stadium

Story: Forget tall stories about bhang, Luanda, home to the famous Abasiekwe rain-making clan, has Esalwa Stadium, what’s already being dubbed one of the most beautiful arenas in Kenya. The home of the Itumbu Greens is on Luanda’s west shore, hugging the banks of the mighty Yala River.

Nuuk

I went for a Nordic winter theme on this one. It was very tricky to find a lighting set-up that would make the architecture look and feel right at home.

Faroe

This is our first attempt to make a computer generated image inspired by one of the most inspirational and unexplored places in the world: Faroe Islands. The most challenging part of this artwork was of course the grass roof and the wild vegetation surrounding this little house. Modeling, framing, lighting and texturing: Silvia Labanti with Cinema 4D and V-Ray. Post-production: Angelo Ferretti. Original Photo by Giulio Groebert.

Constant Springs Residence

Here’s our set of CG images of the Constant Springs Residence by Alterstudio Architecture, located in Austin, United States. We made these renderings to train ourselves to replicate lights and colors from a real photo, pushing Cinema 4D and V-Ray over the limits. Almost every tree, bush and plant are modeled from scratch using Speedtree and Forester for Cinema 4D in order to get a very specific shape and foliage. Of course there are some differences between render and photo reference. That’s because we didn’t try to replicate the photo, we tried to improve it!

Modeling, framing, lighting and texturing: Laura Savelli and Silvia Labanti. Post-production: Angelo Ferretti. Inspired by Casey Dunn and Leonid Furmansky original photos.

Pictures from Corona Land #2 – Night shift

The second chapter of my personal project called “Pictures from Corona Land”. The second attempt to achieve sharp photography approach as fully generated by full CG scenes. Night mood emphasized by volumetric fog. Wide color palette of artificial lights, allow me to simulate pure night photography style and create various scene character and elicit small details from darkness. Again Corona renderer gave me full of creativity freedom and hi quality pictures, even if they were render in low light conditions sampling.

Thank you for watching!
