THE THONG HOUSE

Text description provided by the architects. The perceived quality of life in buildings should come from geometry and how that geometry connects to human beings”. It was the initial thought we had when being offered to design a row house in Phu My Hung, a new urban development area in the Southern Saigon. This project could be considered as another attempt to find a contemporary living manner in row house typology. The brief was to get rid of the way of living we used to have in common townhouse, where the staircase in the center along with the corridor to access spaces covered by four walls which isolate people inside his own world. The client is a nuclear family, consisted of the parents and two kids with the explicit wish to have a home fulfilled with natural elements while being able to improve the spiritual connection between each family member.

Flowers

Visualization of the café&bar called “Flowers”. The project is designed by JAM studio and it’s situated on Bratislava’s riverfront and will be a part of Eurovea shopping mall. Space is divided into two parts – the bottom part is a restaurant, and the upper one will be used as a café and bar.

Renders are created in two different lighting setups. The first one is an evening day-time when artificial lights are dominated so the investor can better understand the space and its proportions. The second lighting setup is showing a morning atmosphere. The low position of the Sun creates beautiful effects of rays and shadows and shows some very interesting moments of this space.

Unseen Grace

My workplace is constantly buzzing with noise, movement and light. However, the building does take on a second life during my late nights and weekend trips there.

I do meet the people that work during these hours more than most. Cleaners, maintenance workers, security guards etc. When the building is ‘switched off’, it transforms and develops a whole new identity, a whole new atmosphere.

The way street lights creep into corridors, the cool blue glow of the security guard’s monitor, the river caustics hitting the ceiling in the summer, the way the lights on my desk form a pool in the surrounding gloom of the open-plan office. These isolated moments feel incredibly cinematic.

This short CG film is an attempt to show people this unique second side to the everyday life they so rarely glimpse beyond.
