432 Park Avenue, NYC’s soon to be the tallest residential tower (also in the western hemisphere) just hit the 50% milestone in last month, reaching a height of 700 feet. Emmy-award-winning branding and creative agency DBOX is in charge of branding and creative for this project designed by architect Rafael Viñoly, and you should have a look at it if you didn’t already. Where can you see the film they made for it you ask? well… that is truly a million-dollar question!
I’ve rounded up all of the 52 Weekly Best Visualizations, Selected the best in each month to form the 12 Best Visualizations of 2013 and now I’m happy to announce that the BEST Visualization of YEAR 2013 is “La Maison de Verre” by Bertrand Benoit! It was far from easy to make the final call but in the end there could be only one, and Bertrand excelled in each category you choose to explore.
Thiago Lima will feature a full-fledged making-of article here soon, but until then I invite you to take a look at this fast paced video recording of the making process of his recent Hostel MondoCúbico project. Bertrand Benoit shared his latest larger personal project on the forums yesterday – La Maison de Verre. Completed in the early 30’s by architect and designer Pierre Chareau, Bertrand took it on himself to recreate it in 3d as real as possible… resembling the original. The attention to details is what you would expect by now from Mr. B, and yet it still amazes me time and time again. Thank you very much for bringing this house to my attention (and thanks to Peter Guthrie too for initially suggesting it).
With recent news about SOA’s Academy Day #4 and the completion of MasterClass #6 I thought it will be nice to feature the great work of the students of class #6 and what they think and feel about their experience. I came to know SOA back in early 2010 seeing Roberto’s ‘Maison Hermes’ visual and since then I’ve been in constant contact with Gianpiero & Roberto and attended Academy Days #2 & #3 and loved every minute of it! Taking my online acquaintance with them to a personal level I can say (as we do In my family) they are True Mensch! I will not miss Academy Day #4 and hope to see you there too.
