River Bank House / Balance Associates Architects

What a remarkable house in a remarkable location! The River Bank House, designed by Balance Associates Architects, sits along Gallatin River, just outside Big Sky, Montana. I probably had to many (render) buckets than it is good for anyone… since looking at these photos I see a wonderful forest pro location under a gorgeous 2003 Dusk Blue Peter sky. Who’s not inspired to try and give it a go? especially that cloud between the peaks in the daylight photo! Steve did a great job capturing this house with his camera lens.

Clearview Residence / Altius Architecture

Clearview Residence by Altius Architecture caught my eye in an instant with the rich in materials design and single point perspective viewpoints I like so much. There is so much to learn from just looking at these images that showcase corten steel, grey/blue ‘Cape Cod’ wood siding, ipe wood decking, slate, gravel, grass and more all under daylight and various interior lighting scenarios. I just wished they had taken all the night viewpoints at daytime too.

Pisopiso / Atelier Ryo Abe Works

I love Japanese architecture and Pisopiso by Atelier Ryo Abe Works is a great example. It is also a nice followup to Black Living with the dark wood treatment to the interior. They seem to love the dark side very much… visit AARA website and browse through their other works to see for yourselves. Pisopiso in a great reference for wood work in a dark interior space.

Peter Guthrie’s Teglverksgata 2 Visualizations

Peter shared a new set of renders for a residential project on the northern edge of Oslo’s Sofienberg park by Logg Arkitektur. An urban visualization integrated in photos he took on site that reminds me a lot of his previous work on the Kilburn Vale Visualizations, which represented (for me) his best work at that time. With these new renders I think Peter has pushed the limits even further, achieving high levels of realism and integration within photos.

House DS / GRAUX & BAEYENS architecten

Jump starting this week with an inspriation piece from GRAUX & BAEYENS architecten. The photo set taken for their DS House by photographer Julien Lanoo have a very familiar look & feel to them… can you guess what I’m thinking about? Some of them look more like renders then photos, but I like it. The toned down colors, framing and the great reference these are for materials such as grass, glass, metal & wood.

Graticule House / David Jameson Architects

Graticule House by David Jameson Architects is an exemplar for the “isolated house in the woods” scenario. Interestingly articulated using a simple orthogonal design vocabulary, this house offer many great framed vantage points towards the woods and from the woods back at it. There are many photos to explore in this set offering great reference for how such a house could look both day and night, in and out. You should also check out Bertrand Benoit’s 3d recreation of Graticule House.
