Victor Larsson caught my eye right away with his latest 3d recreation of Swedish Pre-Fab manufacturer Arkitekthus House #001 designed by Claesson Koivisto Rune Architects. First of all, I have a soft spot for anything pre-fab and adding to that a set of perfectly lit and well composed visuals with a striking dusk snow image got me curious about why and how he went about making this scene. He kindly shares with us his process in this article which I hope you’ll enjoy!
Italian Architect and Illustrator Federico Babina amazes me with this fantastic set of 2d elevation drawings of buildings inspired by iconic works from artists like Piet Mondrian, Richard Serra, Andy Warhol, Picasso, Roy Lichtenstein and more totaling 27 such drawings.
My favorite 3d modeling software has been upgraded! SketchUP 2014 hit the market today, and although the core SketchUP Pro features did not change that much, I like the fact Trimble keeps a steady update cycle with a great beta testing program. I just wish they focused on SketchUP just as much as Layout. 2013 was mainly a Layout upgrade, with 2014 they overhauled the 3d warehouse and more Layout upgrades… Trimble – Make 2015 a SketchUP Pro core upgrade only please! it is long overdue. I guess that bottom-line, the most valuable update in this release is the introduction of Ruby 2.0 for 3rd party developers.
iToo Software has released version 2.2 of RailClone, their popular parametric modelling tool for 3dsmax. This version opens the software to a new wide range of applications, thanks to an extended style library including new groups like wooden fences, flooring, shelving and animatable escalators. RailClone 2.2. also features all new operators, improved UVW mapping, count mode for generators (which I’m already putting to good use on a tower facade project), V-Ray 3 and Thea Render compatibility plus many other changes and fixes.
Jeffery Faranial posted an incredible photo set he took of Villa Savoye by Le Corbusier in Poissy, France. Aside from the great photography, he offers some unique viewpoints I’ve never seen before. Check it out!
