Working in architecture over the years, Ryan Canning found that he’s often unable to find the exact material he needs for an image (really!), ending up manually adjusting one in Photoshop. Fast forward one year, and he built this tool that can help with Customizing Textures for ‘Post-Digital’ Visualizations called Architextures Create after learning web development as a hobby.
Parisian illustrator & graphic designer, Marie-Laure Cruschi, crafted an amazing set of cabin illustration for Philip Jodidio upcoming book Cabins published by Taschen. The subject alone strikes a hard chord for me as I’m fascinated by cabin design, and with 61 of these in this book accompanied by gorgeous illustrations, it looks like a real gem! Looking forward to get it.
Here’s some crazy photo-editing on steroids leveraging stock 3d models. From the 3d side of the fence this might not seem that much hoopla to start with, but this approach seems to transform any still 2d photo into a mini 3d environment in which you can start moving and rotating the objects as long as you can match them with a 3d model which is not that hard. Now bring this back to our realm and since we have it all in 3d anyway, this opens some crazy options for post render manipulations!
Italian Architect and Illustrator Federico Babina amazes me with this fantastic set of 2d elevation drawings of buildings inspired by iconic works from artists like Piet Mondrian, Richard Serra, Andy Warhol, Picasso, Roy Lichtenstein and more totaling 27 such drawings.
Moving apartments in Tel Aviv, walking around the various areas of the city, sparked and old-new love for architecture for Tel Aviv based designer / illustrator Avner Gicelter. This evolved into a wonderful personal project, inspired by José Guízar’s ‘Windows of New York’, in which Avner illustrates complete and interesting buildings across the city. The end results is remarkable… each one a poster, with attention to the buildings smallest features and colors referencing the city. 12 so far, and hopefully many more to come in this visual reference of Tel Aviv, Israel.
