(c) Evgen 2009 www.evgen3d.com / 8,000 trees / 500,000 grass objects / modeled with GrowFX / Scattered with Forest Pack Pro

Their main product – GrowFX, is a system of modeling and animating plants for Autodesk 3ds Max. With it, you can recreate digitally a lifelike 3D model of any plant, from grass and trees to woodland. GrowFX lets you create broadleaf trees, conifers, palm trees, flowers, ivy and many other vegetational compositions. Its unique model building tools will help you create creeping plants, entwining scene objects, and shearing plants of any shape. Plants may bend around different objects. GrowFX is fully compatible with 3ds Max. All parameters can be animated. You can, for example, create a wind animation, plant growth animation and other kinds of animation you can imagine. There is also an opportunity to edit the parameters using MAXScript.

The power of GrowFX is best showcased by the work being done at 3dMentor, the creators of the HQ Plants series, where they use it to make large and small deciduous trees, conifers and shrubs (included in HQ-Plants Vol. 1 and HQ-Plants Vol. 2)

My adventure with landscaping and foliage started couple years ago when i discovered onyx. Since than i have always tryed to build realistic environment as much as hardware/software and patient let me. I always loved to put in my scens big old trees and uniqe smalll shrubs, thats why almost into every projects i was creating some foliage treating it as training. Almost  every trip be car or by foot was spend to watching how thing looks what is their structure, how to build one, seekeing for inspiration. So why i want to use growfx? I thing i have squeezed onyx to its boundaries and always thought that its high time to switch to growfx. Finally i made my decision after my whole data base with every single vegetation broke couple weeks ago, and 95% data was lost.... I have made long way till that time, an reconstructing whole vegetation library in onyx would be painful. Thats is why i need growfx - to expand my skills and freely create what i want to do, instead what software can let me do.

Thank you for this giveaway. This a extremely high quality plugin to build your own trees, shrubs, plants, grass, etc. It´d be a great help to have this for my future works.

One thing I've ever hated about renders, is that most time you are stuck with the same tree models, and you have to use them over and over again, making your work look as a factory made pattern, I would love to use GrowFX to make my renders even more realistic and less patterned.

It would be awesome build a huge parametric tree library to distinguish every project from pre-made un-editable tree geometries! This first, iToo Forest following...

Started fooling around with GrowFX a while ago for an old chapel project in the middle of the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, mainly using it for Japanese Cherry Blossom trees. Not yet perfected, but it is truly a great learning experience using the software. A license would be great to follow up and finish the project! Plus I'd probably share my models with everyone; always good to help out the 3D community.

I'd use Grow FX to create a library of custom trees and foliage. The advantage over just buying meshes would be the ability to tweak presets and get loads of variation on the same type of trees and plants. Great giveaway Ronen :)

The biggest advantage of grow fx is its nice, intuitive interface. If you ever worked with onyx, you know what i mean. And the results speak for themselves. My former boss always said: 'No one around here seems to know how a tree looks like.' :D

Great ! most of my renders have dense vegetation and natural background. I must get it ! :D The  iTrees 3D library from iCube is so poor :(
