Making of Eames House / Case Study House No. 8

The Eames House is widely considered as one of the great buildings of the 20th century. Also known as the Case Study house 8, this beautiful piece of architecture was constructed in 1949 using only prefabrication and off-the-shelf materials. Sava Zivkovic recently published his personal animated short where he tried to capture the essence of the house. Making of ‘Treevillas’

Pre-Fab is sure showing a lot more lately, and I like it! Jacinto Monteiro owner of Metro Cúbico Digital ArchVIZ studio recently showcased a remarkable set of visuals they made for Portuguese architectural company RRJ Arquitectos and constructed by “Modular System” showing a single vacation home design they made for the Pestana Group – Ecoresort. While the “House in the Forest” theme is generally overused, this one was done to resemble the exact forest-like location with great results. PREFAB Desert House by Marmol Radziner

I have a soft spot for PREFAB residential designs and this one by Marmol Radziner sure is a nice one. Designed for Leo Marmol and his wife Alisa Becket, the Desert House, Located on a five-acre site in Desert Hot Springs, California, employs four house modules and six deck modules. Sheltered living spaces blend the indoors with the outdoors, simultaneously extending and connecting the house to the north wing, which holds a guest house and studio space. Great reference for how a small architectural metallic subject looks in a desert environment.
