The age of the giant ship is coming to an end.

Neo Ark will Convert the largest ocean going vessels into floating and in some cases mobile, sustainable communities.

These vessels would contain large residential neighborhoods, farms as well as organic food factories, sustainable energy production and recreational facilities. Arks would cluster to form larger floating towns, each one contributing what it can to the cluster.

This vision will be brought to life in the form of an animation. Although the length of the animation is limited in the Convert Challenge, a longer version will hopefully be available shortly after the challenge has ended.

This castle was built in 1876 in Bouliac, 15 minutes far from Bordeaux, France. The mysterious name ” Great Dragon” seems to live from early 1800s to name the area. The building was occupied by the Nazis during WW2 and became a retirement home in the 1900s. When the place closed, the area was left abandoned. A few acts of vandalism and fires later, only the walls remains.
I don’t know what will happen to the castle today, but the area seems to be for sale, divided in multiple pieces. In case the worst happen, I wanted to add another stone to it’s story.

As Bordeaux and it’s surroundings attracts many tourists, mainly for it’s architectural heritage, castles and vineyards, I’m thinking converting this beauty into an hotel might be the way. Preserving it’s beautiful stone façade and exploring a contemporary way to create the new roof will be my approach. Only stills for me. I hope I’m not too late!

(I don’t own the pictures below)

I’ve started to identify specific repeating elements throughout exterior and interior as I begin blocking out the building. Starting with the exterior façade; roof and interior will soon follow. I intend to bring them into the engine for assessment once the building itself is set.

Living in Miami, I was shocked by the disuse that port cranes had for many months. Before the pandemic hit us, there was a great port and cruise ships activity, and after everything was completely paralyzed.
Born in Cuba, a country where objects always have a second life, it’s part of my creative process to reuse and rehabilitate objects and spaces.

The project aims to convert disused port cranes by granting these megastructures with new functions and uses.
What? A new concept of a Hotel with capsule rooms.
Why? Bring to life abandoned port cranes and their surroundings.
How? Landscape, reuse of containers such as capsule rooms, glass, metal, wood, and many views to enjoy colorful sunsets.
