Lasse Rode form studio xoio posted on the forums, one of the most amazing 3d recreations of a house designed by master modernist architect Mies van der Rohe – Villa Tugendhat. Done as a personal project over the past few weeks to test color-mapping and GrowFX tree creation among other things, this is not something you want to miss out.
I don’t think this house got too much 3d recreations in the past, and most certainly not as good as lasse showcases here. I remember Villa Tugendhat from my architecture school days, as well as all other designs by Mies van der Rohe that had great influence on me, and it is a great joy to see it recreated like that in 3D.

great work, I hope that the reconstruction of the building will be completed as well as your virtual outputs ...
2M atelier
yes, i hope they will fix that... i was quite shocked about the poor condition the building is in at the moment from what i could see in my reference images.
But: good thing is, reconstruction is happening.
thank you for the nice comments ;)
i think i will write a making of on the relevant topics in the near future.

Lasse
I really like exterior shots because of the perfect vegetation placement and overall composition. Well done!
hi Lasse,
impressive work.. very cool renders!!:)
about tecnical detail..could you share something about color mapping tests you ve done??
and..there will be a making of??
good work man.
Very nice, but some materials like rounded wall or onyx wall are different in reality.
Wow! great work!! I especially like the cloudy images..
nice
This is simply amazing! I've visited this Villa in Brno in 2002 as an architecture student (traveled 500 km just to see it) and this 3D rendering is even better than reality! GOOD JOB!
Some really nice shots, especially when you've used the really shallow DOF.
Care to share your tips learnt on the color mapping side of things?
