Crowded Challenge entry by strale88

Image inspired by my latest trip to Amsterdam.
All buildings and streets modeled from scratch, from photographs I took there.
I have decided to make the dawn scene, because, for me, it is the most interesting time of the day in Amsterdam, when everything is becoming more lively, more colorful, more crowded.

Finished with the modeling of buildings, signs, awnings, walkways, tweak the lighting, added bicycles, modified some trees for late autumn, added leaves, did some curtains, facade details, fill up interiors, added chairs and tables on streets, tweaked the camera for night photography and finally opened Anima to add some people, it was awesome, and F9!
Gotta love clay renders…

I’m almost finished with the model. Still a lot of details to model and texture. I did pull back the camera little bit because I wanted to show the canal. It is Amsterdam inspired image after all 🙂
The idea is to make busy street with restaurants, cafes and shopfronts to try what Anima lite can do. This is also a good time to tryout new Evermotion shopfronts I got.

I got back from mini holiday last week, I was in Amsterdam for a week and the streets is what inspired me the most.
The architecture, the crowd,, the food, everything was eye candy. So I have decided to do street similar like those narrow crowded ones I’ve seen in Amsterdam.
Here is my first rough sketch/concept for this image.
Hopefully my plan will not change since I have a lot of buildings to model and not much free time.

As always, I am trying to create unique story for my images, something you usually don’t see on most of renders. This time, the action behind the scene.

Public workers cutting grass and museum staff setting up new exhibition wrapped up in early spring mood.

I did go little cinematic on this image. 1.85:1 aspect ratio gave me space to show more of the surroundings and slight yellow/greenish color grading hints that warmer weather is coming.

It was enjoyable to work on this project in my spare time.
Thanks Ronen & Tomorrow for this nice challenge.
