BRIX by Materialwerk
Materialwerk has just released BRIX, a new tool for 3ds Max & Maya that offers a solution to working with tiled materials (planks, bricks, tiles, mosaics, stone cladding and more). Bertrand Benoit posted a very informative article about his first steps with BRIX you really should take a look at. You can also see some of Bertrand’s tests below.
Materialwerk published the BRIX lite version for download at their website. They have also added a Video Tutorial Page. I’ve embedded them inside the post below too.
Bridge in Vienna / SOLID architecture
First inspirational bridge structure for HOVER. Situated in Vienna and designed by SOLID architecture this is a beautiful bridge connecting to existing buildings. The structural solution not showing from the outside but rather serves a part of the interior walkway design. Got to love those “White Supremacy” inner photos!
Classroom by Studio Aiko
Amazing work, by Israeli based Studio Aiko, was posted on the forum not long ago. The amount of work and detail put into this piece is clearly showing in each frame! Visit the classroom scene forum thread to ask questions and add your feedback to it.
Loblolly House / Kieran Timberlake
Another great HOVER related house design by Kieran Timberlake that also showcases the PREFAB aspect that is part of the HOVER challenge. Floating on top of tree like pylons, Loblloly house is a remarkable prefab design based on a singular aluminum extrusion beams that make up the entire framework of the upper structure. You must see the attached video below to fully understand this house and how cleaver it is.
Walensee House / km Architektur
Since HOVER Challenge is about to start soon i’ll add related inspiration projects I gathered in the past weeks to kick start your creative minds. First is the Walensee House by km Architektur (I do not know who took the pictures though). Great looking wood & glass design… and what else can be added other then location, location, location.
Interview with Viktor Fretyan at 3DTotal
3DTotal just published an interesting interview with artist Viktor Fretyan, the maker of the remarkable Kumu Art Museum scene posted here not long ago in the inspiration section. It is a good read and has many examples of Viktor’s work.
