Best Overall Architectural Image for 2010

2010 CGarchitect Architectural 3D Awards winners were announced and big congratulations to Bertrand Benoit for winning the best overall architectural image category for 2010 with his previously won GH House Interior Image! Bertrand will co-judge HOVER, my second Architectural Visualization Challenge that will be announced very soon.

BRIX by Materialwerk

Materialwerk has just released BRIX, a new tool for 3ds Max & Maya that offers a solution to working with tiled materials (planks, bricks, tiles, mosaics, stone cladding and more). Bertrand Benoit posted a very informative article about his first steps with BRIX you really should take a look at. You can also see some of Bertrand’s tests below.

Loblolly House / Kieran Timberlake

Another great HOVER related house design by Kieran Timberlake that also showcases the PREFAB aspect that is part of the HOVER challenge. Floating on top of tree like pylons, Loblloly house is a remarkable prefab design based on a singular aluminum extrusion beams that make up the entire framework of the upper structure. You must see the attached video below to fully understand this house and how cleaver it is.
