In the course of time

We live in a temporary world, everything is threatened to change and be replaced. As humans, we are in need of stability which is why we keep looking for a place that will remain.
I believe that the Stockholm Public Library is one exemple of these places that shall remain. A landmark that will be ultimately recognized by the observer no matter how many years have passed.
In this image I capture this building in a far away future, where the whole surrounding have been replaced by high uncharacteristic skyscrapers. Although the library appears to have been renovated in an effort to merge it with the nearby style, its uniqueness is obvious.
On a cold winter morning, people run along the frozen river, on their way to the library, seeking shelther from the upcoming storm.Their eyes only seek the library and their souls seek the books inside. Those books are timeless, they are the key of the building’s immortality. There is no time for books, as they are a concrete representation of time passed. Therefore, there is no time for a library, it is everlasting. It is a place that remains.

CABINS / wwwerdnaaa : Desert Bunker

For this cabin I wanted to try something different. My first goal was to create something that was located in the desert rather than a forest. For the structure itself I was heavily inspired by DUST Architect’s Casa Caldera project. As soon as I saw the project I knew I wanted to create something similar, the brutalist and utilitarian nature of it were very appealing as well as its minimum impact on the surrounding environment.

For the landscape I used a terrain map to create a small rolling hill with a river basin. I populated it with clusters of small grass as well as larger Acacia trees. I scattered large boulders throughout the dried river bed. In the distance I used a photoscanned model of a canyon that I downloaded from Sketchfab, I wanted to give depth to the image as well as a bit more interest.

Overall I’m happy with how this project turned out, I learned a ton along the way and enjoyed the challenge!

CABINS / wdprui2 : End of the Trail

I have the horrible tendency towards ever-expanding scope and I was unable to finish this competition. This is the first scene of this size and detail I have ever attempted. Really I’m still learning the tools on every level.

Even though it still needs a lot of fine tuning, I wanted to submit this image because I spent an absurd amount of time on it. I fully intend on finishing this scene in the coming days but the interior and surroundings aren’t up to the level of polish worth rendering.

I see a ton of things in this image that could improve but as I am extremely new to this process, I would relish any feedback or criticism from this talented group.

In the end, I tried my best and came up short but this was a tremendous learning experience which hopefully has better prepared me for the next competition. Thanks Ronen. Good luck everyone!

CABINS / spaceodyssey : SPACE ODYSSEY

Looking at Earths increase in population and need for alternative locations for shelters, the idea to create an environment that could support those needs was developed. The intent was to bring “home” like features to the shelter to create emotions that one would have when seeing and entering my childhood cabin. Cedar shingles are represented by a futuristic titanium shell that makes up the exterior. The interior brings warmth by using Earths natural materials such as wood and soft upholstery selections.
