I have the horrible tendency towards ever-expanding scope and I was unable to finish this competition. This is the first scene of this size and detail I have ever attempted. Really I’m still learning the tools on every level.

Even though it still needs a lot of fine tuning, I wanted to submit this image because I spent an absurd amount of time on it. I fully intend on finishing this scene in the coming days but the interior and surroundings aren’t up to the level of polish worth rendering.

I see a ton of things in this image that could improve but as I am extremely new to this process, I would relish any feedback or criticism from this talented group.

In the end, I tried my best and came up short but this was a tremendous learning experience which hopefully has better prepared me for the next competition. Thanks Ronen. Good luck everyone!

Wdprui2 this is a great shot ! When I look at it I feel something, and even as a CG artist I’m not looking at defaults (as I often am, for sure ;-)) Don’t be so rude with yourself, even if it’s a good motivator to do better next time.
When you’re done with it, post it on RB Facebook blog please, i’d like to see it !

Mate, you’ve done some amazing work here, I know it’s a bummer when you don’t get to where you were aiming for in time but it looks like you’ve really got your head round the technical skills required to pull a complex and realistic scene together like this. I’m sure with a little more time you can get into the fun stuff of testing some lighting and composition options. The best thing about building an evironment like this is once your done you can look at it from every angle. I hope you get a chance to take this scene to that stage and enjoy it. Best of luck

The biggest value of this challenge, as in previous ones, is in the process! Even though you did not make it to the finals, don’t be discouraged… you made an amazing effort which you can build on now. I hope you’ll revisit and advance with this scene when you have time since there is lots of potential taking it further!
