CABINS entry by sololander

I ended up changing the light and mood of my project a lot since i was traveling around scenic country sides which inspired me a brand new feel for storytelling. I discovered a sense of happiness in the midst of a brief moment in time which is just after a light snowfall or rain right at the dusk. This is what i tried to capture in my work here with the cabin entry.Hope you guys enjoy looking at it as much as i did 🙂 Looking forward to see amazing moments all of you created for the same..

I did some lighting trials with different conditions to know how each materials look and feel in the scene. The texture is not finalized yet as you can see from the renders.I have tried to play with different maps for the trees (winter leaves etc.) to know the mood each creates.

Was having some issues with the mapping and population of grass and it seems to float around but all i good now after i gave a quick disk space cleanup and restart.Hopefully i should be able to fix the model and populating issues soon and churn out the renders 🙂

Blocking and Staging. In this stage i put together the basic terrain and the model to know the feel of the scene and choosing the right camera angles for the final render. This helps me populate the area which is required for the final shot hence saving time and work.

As part of the competition the most research for me went into selecting the perfect cabin for my design.I finalized on Wikkelhouse PreFab cabin by fiction factory as its design struck onto me the most appropriate for the mood and feel of the scene i want to create.

So i started off by getting the model from sketchup warehouse and modified and tweaked it in Maya so that i can work on it better. It just included bringing down the poly count without much loss to geometry and re-doing some parts of the model.

I gave it a quick render with rough materials on keyshot to know how it looks and its not broken.
