CABINS entry by Mario Mendieta

With nature as a backdrop and a spart, yet funcional cabin layout, this scenic composition epitomizes the essence of the outdoor living experience at its best. Through a careful material curation, that strives for textures as well as colors, in order to age harmoniously with it’s surroundings. In time, the rust, mosses, ferns, along with the layered patina create a cohesiveness that makes the man made structures belong. As trees envelops the inmmediate vicinity, the scenery convey an air of serene tranquility that speaks to the cathartic longing for solitude. That yearning to extricate ourselves from the hectic modern living and revert to our roots in nature as the only means to find our true selves.

For us this a milestone, which speaks to the evolution of our design concept. After undergoing many iterations to assess different visual perspectives, as well as various lighting styles/configurations, we came to the one that spoke to us. It is an vivid representation of our creative expression, for it is a combination of the fiery intensity of the sun, the spellbinding reflection of the water and the vividness of the greenery. This is all framed against the backdrop of the spartan minimalism of outdoor living.

As to finding an inspiration, we dwelled on what it would be like for us to live in a cabin, or why would we do it in the first place? For us, a cabin is not a destination resort but a place you can call home. A place where you can feel at peace with your inner demons. The atmosphere needs to be ideal. Therefore, we chose Jenny Lake, Wyoming as the perfect rendez-vous with yourself. When it comes down to the architectural topic, we agreed on keeping it simple, back to basic; a triangular shaped cabin with a cozy interior. Regarding to softwares, Lumion 8 is our chosen one.
