Tomorrow Challenge entry by User-17894561

I’ve really enjoyed working on this project – I’m used to doing mostly interior and product renders, but have always wanted to do much more exterior work, so this challenge seemed like a great opportunity to learn some new tricks. Working on the landscape elements has been great fun, and spending time getting the building exterior materials ‘just right’ has taught me lots too!
I set myself a strict time limit, and spent much more time experimenting with post production than I normally do. I’m pretty happy with the final image.
Thanks to Tomorrow and Ronen Bekerman for setting this challenge – it has been lots of fun!
Good luck everyone!

Cheers!

A few images here to show the tone of voice and colour palette I’m aiming for with the final image…
I want to show the scene in something other than a winter setting – the autumn in Sweden is my favourite time of the year – lots of vivid colours and hazy sunshine will make for a nice visual.

The building is now finished, and I’m looking at the surrounding landscape and lighting – I want to show a nice sky and light, in an autumn setting. I think the sky will be comped in after the final render, so am focussing on the right setting for the light and will spend time getting the environment right.
I’m working to a tight deadline, so probably won’t have time to model the front of the building.
I’m not completely happy with the lighting, but think I’m getting close…

…I’m happy with the material for the panels one the building exterior (probably the trickiest part of the challenge – I want to show the grain and glossiness of them). I’ll finish the interior elements tonight, then formalize my concept once the model is in place. I’m still thinking about Autumn!

I’m finished with the model and interior lighting, and want to show the scene in an autumn setting. I moved to Sweden several years ago, and autumn is my favourite time of the year: very dramatic colours, blue skies and the weather is getting colder.
I think this will be a good time to show the building – low sunlight will show the materials of the building off nicely.
I want to show the building sitting in a natural setting: trees, granite sunshine. Also to make the interior of the building look enticing from the outside.
