Tomorrow 2019 Challenge entry by Drazen

On the winter of 2016 / 2017 I was in Sweden visiting my cousins in Landskrona and Helsinborg. I was in Lund also couple of times. I was amazed of the outdoor light, sky and this really cute bales of hay on the squares where the children could play with some snow on top of it. So, I will try to recreate the same atmosphere with the sky and lightning conditions. There will be some story telling in the exterior image ( Cam_1 ) for sure. This really specific trees around the building was tricky part for modeling but I’ve used Speetree software to recreate or at least try to be as close as possible to the geometry. I will show you how to set up 3×3 rule of third grid in Physical Camera in 3ds max and that can be quite useful for creating the composition of your image. Take a look at the screen shots…. To be continuted… best of luck to me and all the others / cheers !

Firstly, when I opened the scene for the first time, I immediately started to look for a interesting cameras. I used 18mm lense to get more dramatic perspective, as I’ve noticed that the architecture is really amazing because of the shape and a colors and materials used.

Creation of the corten steel shader was really time consuming as a part of the image work with. I’ve spent almost 12 hours to manualy create different corten steel shader for a different steel panel of facade. I have created 10 of them with lot of composite maps and leaks and grunge maps and masks that can be found on textures.com.

Some assets and props that was created was simply by looking at the some reference images that I’ve found on the internet.

Software used: 3ds Max 2016, V ray 3.5, PS cs6
