AXYZ Design Mini Challenge
Anima is an amazing tool for populating 3d scenes , this is a very interesting challenge we thank the forum and the sponsors for the opportunity , the very first place that came to my mind after reading the challenge breif was the famous Times square in New York city , the beautiful scenery of the surrounding high stand buildings , the animated adds and mainly the constant flow of the crowd , a perfect place for this challenge .
I want to create on an existing place, my vision of how it should be life city in a historic context.
Modern city builded on historic landmarks should coexist with the intricated forms, ways and life styles of citizens. Transport, economics, folklore and wheather are the very unique charactericts that bring a place its particularity that defines and separate from others.
Those are the key things that i want to show you on my images.
Focusing on a view inside The Ring, aiming to show the LIFE inside the courtyard between the inner pavilion and the perimeter.
Might test a few variations for this one, but it is pretty much the direction. What do you think?
This is an example entry really, taking advantage of this miniCHALLENGE to revisit an old project. This is now called The RING, and I’ll explore possible views and how to make it alive with people!
Not sure if to go for the views from outside the ring or inside of it. There is a very beautiful courtyard scenario inside that could be the best one to explore.
I decided to choose a theme of life in the city of Tokyo. Its strict modernity, which is intertwined with the ethnic colors.
I have to say that I am very surprised by how easy it was to use Anima Lite to add people to the scene (even though I wasted a whole day before I realized that I had downloaded version 1 instead of 2). I spent almost no time tweaking the paths and parameters before getting results I liked, placing those people individually in photoshop would have taken ages.
After that I was able to spend more of my time on finding the right lighting and mood for the finished scene.
My original image was really lacking a sense of scale but after adding the people you can now feel the contrast between the small humans and the skyscrapers to big to fit in the frame of the picture.
Also I finally achieved the look of a busy station with a lot of pedestrian traffic that I had observed in all the reference images used for the project, it brought life and movement into the scene without having to use post production tricks like blurred lights and objects.
