CABINS / artpen : Calm Solitude

It is what we lack in modern society, the sense of world stood still, just for a moment… to be able to stop with our daily routine and look around. Take some time to digest the butty of nature around us to stimulate our creative instincts. This is how I would describe my project theme – “Calm Solitude”.

Based on my statement above I started to look for appropriate mood images of remote locations. These images gave me some initial thoughts regarding where the Cabin is going to be located and how it is going to look. From the beginning, I wanted to include water in my future scenery.

The actual Cabin design was inspired by strong silhouettes of sail yachts and mountains in Isle of Skye (Scotland). I wanted to create building form which will blend with the environment, but at the same time be a statement of its own.

As usual, I have stared with pen and paper, I feel like using my hands gives me a better understanding of proportions and rhythm of future building and composition.I have also prepared an initial physical model to test the silhouette of the building.

Next step will probably is going to be modelling the building. And setting up the composition.

CABINS / Joshua Fisher : Pacific Northwest Gorge Living Cabin

I live, work, and play in the Pacific Northwest of America. I’m fortunate to be so close to beautiful landscapes ranging from rocky coasts with dramatic cliffs and beaches, to rainforests, mountains, farm country, deserts, and urban environments mixed in all of it. Most of the professional work I do is typically done in urban environments and this cabins challenge provides a great excuse to imagine, create, and design a project nestled in a scenic PNW coastal forest landscape – something I haven’t yet been able to create or work on.

This concept is inspired by the idea of imagining an awesome basecamp/weekend getaway cabin integrated in a gorge right on a stream that is fed by a waterfall. A challenge to be sure and one that will force me to test my abilities and learn new techniques to recreate the wide range of elements from mossy, fern covered cliffs, to pine forests, and streams with fallen logs, rocks, and ferns.

I’m excited to build on the programs I already know and use and see how far I can push them – all while working full time and having a family. 🙂

CABINS / Jean : At the edge of a world

… Seeing around here more and more nice ideas of cabins lost in beautiful natural landscapes, and being more skilled in architecture rendering than wild life illustration, I decided to propose something a bit different :

What if a nice cosy cabin, peacefully set in some wild meadow, was, after a long life far from the city pressure, suddenly surrounded by a vast urban program, crushing every bit of nature around it, huge glass building towering its light frame ?

And, what if, instead of surrendering the small building to the hungry bulldozers, the owner decided to stand his ground, and stay, no matter what ?

Our story begins here, at the edge of a very small world, overlooking ,without a blink, the new universe that try to swallows it.

This idea is of course partially inspired by Pixar’s UP movie, but, instead of fleeing through the air, the intend here is to stay connected, firmly, to the ground !

The final result should be one VR sphere, showing the sweet comfort of the cabin on one side, warm and full of natural elements, and all the dry and artificial urban surrounding if you look around.

CABINS / Sicladix : Into the Woods

the main idea is to create a cabin that will integrate with its natural environment and that will interact with him by the choice of materials and architecture, the chosen composition will be divided into three parts, the foreground that will be of dense vegetation , the second shots will consist of the cabin and trees and the background of mountain and lake, these three plans will be structured by a forest track that will link them and add depth to image. I have not yet chosen the cabin model may be that I will move towards a reinterpretation of an existing project, more on his soon.
