CABINS / Jean : At the edge of a world

… Seeing around here more and more nice ideas of cabins lost in beautiful natural landscapes, and being more skilled in architecture rendering than wild life illustration, I decided to propose something a bit different :

What if a nice cosy cabin, peacefully set in some wild meadow, was, after a long life far from the city pressure, suddenly surrounded by a vast urban program, crushing every bit of nature around it, huge glass building towering its light frame ?

And, what if, instead of surrendering the small building to the hungry bulldozers, the owner decided to stand his ground, and stay, no matter what ?

Our story begins here, at the edge of a very small world, overlooking ,without a blink, the new universe that try to swallows it.

This idea is of course partially inspired by Pixar’s UP movie, but, instead of fleeing through the air, the intend here is to stay connected, firmly, to the ground !

The final result should be one VR sphere, showing the sweet comfort of the cabin on one side, warm and full of natural elements, and all the dry and artificial urban surrounding if you look around.

CABINS / Dominic_mas : Low tide

The place where no time…
Not so long ago I’ve visited Tasmania for a few weeks. It’s northern island state in Australia. And I definitely was really inspired by virgin nature around me. Of course place in the sketch isn’t real and I hyperbolized a bit my memories.

What can be better place for the Cabin of the last Romantic as endless shallow. Low tide carried water away and you are able walk in the middle of infinity, between two mirrored worlds. Energy by the wind, food by the sea, rules by the universe.

CABINS / ole lukoje : Inception

This impression I’ve got from the Tongariro volcanic park in New Zealand. I started my crossing early in the morning while clouds were covering most of the land surface. Seeing almost nothing in 100 m max I was moving through the valleys and climbing huge lava stones looks like a blood pudding pieces. On the top of Red crater incredible wind blew the clouds faster so suddenly it dawns and then I saw the view. I was standing on the blackened edge of the crater which was literally red in the hollow as if it was bleeding once and now thickens. On the other side and after it the charred valley spread to the horizon. The flanks were covered with sends and stones of all possible ground colors golden red-orange and some lemon yellow spots were steaming boiling mud pools. It was a feeling that there was a nature workshop where all kinds of the landscape are created but right now just a naked bare land as it was. There was a beginning. That’s how it looks millions of years ago.

I spend several hours there. I wish to stay longer.
Walking around, watching and gathering all colourful stones and lava pumice, guessing the chemicals, it was easy to imagine whatever you can.
Imagine a monolith piece of golden metal thrown out from the bowels of the earth and stuck on the edge. Clouds or steam rambled through the lava valley. There was an inception.

CABINS / don.shepperson : Hiking Huts

Zeroing in on my ‘real world location’ Lake Allen at Mt Wow, at Mt Rainier National Park, Washington State, USA. This location is know for hiking, but its a bit less traveled than other trails in the area.
Trying to get as close to actual topography as possible imported into Unreal Engine. Doing some testing and initial setup to the level / scene before working on actual cabin / hut concepts.
