CABINS / baldjieva : The Snake Cabins

I was truly inspired by the Tree Snake Cabins, designed by the Portuguese architects Luís + Tiago Rebelo de Andrade. The photos on ArchDaily feature the cabins in the pine woods somewhere deep in the mainland. I decided to reposition them on a steep rocky slope going down to the ocean. The horizontal body of the cabin would form a nice contrast to the thin vertical pine trees. The floor plan organisation would basically remain the same, but I imagine the facade more minimalist and with diagonal wood cladding.

I was randomly googling “epic cliff” and “kitesurf beach”, when I found a photo of Cabo da Roca in Portugal and imagined a bright sunny day, the two cabins on the burning hot rocks and a view of a couple of kitesurfers enjoying the wind and the ocean.

Anyway it’s just some first thoughts.

CABINS / Benja : The Artist’s Escape

When growing up, I regularly visited my family in Ireland, from here we used to escape to a little coastal fishing village located in Sheephaven Bay called Downings.

We used to visit the same chalet every year, in front of this chalet there was a house. There was a tale of a local Artist that residedhere, on the headland, just above the crashing waves of the wild north Atlantic ocean.

Directly in front of this house was a dramatic landscape of the ocean, beaches and peaks beyond them. I wondered where he would escape to gain inspiration for his art; if he looked out at the same dramatic view everyday, does he perfect the same landscape over and over? does he move about around the bay? I concluded that he probably has some other secluded favourite places where he takes himself and his thoughts.

I shall endeavour to realise these places around scenic Donegal settings.

CABINS / lasse1309 : hice

I went past a weekend-house on a lake last winter, a small house with amazing view which inspired me much to re-create such setting.
After starting to mock up a scene in 3d and playing with the layout of the building i remembered a project i wanted to take on for ages: Some kind of “System” for small get-away-homes – kind of a “formula”
Well I went on with the initial plan to design a set of small houses, define facade systems and landscape to some kind of generically combine those.
I started this during summer holidays. The project went to sleep after that, unfortunately.

Just to be woken up again by this challenge.
Long story short: I will take one of the small houses I layed out (it is the U-shaped one, inspired by a building by toop architectuur) willing to place it in a setting similar to the forests surrounding my home town – sandy baltic pine forests.

I am very excited to get this going – and work some more on nice landscaping detail 🙂

CABINS / Martin : Boat_Builders

So far just the cabins modelled in 3DS Max, with an architectural background the cabins seem to be the easy part, the landscape is proving a little harder and I’m busy watching tutorials on anything that will produce a terrain that looks right. I have UE4 and am exploring the terrain generation process but would really appreciate any hints on producing realistic rocks, coastlines etc.
