National Gallery Budapest-Liget by Tomorrow

Tomorrow’s visuals of the winning proposal by Snøhetta for the New National Gallery in Budapest are the best this week! Love the fact they went Black and White on this, with a supereb interior image in this set. Very atmospheric and captivating. I like Snøhetta’s proposal as well. Not sure how having a tie with SANAA for first place is going to work though? Can’t understand this decision anyway…

The Liget Budapest Project is the currently the biggest on-going museum project in the world. Its objective is a complete renewal of the green area of the City Park of Budapest and to place five new museum buildings there. The New National Gallery in Budapest will be the primary cultural attraction in Budapest, Hungary. Comprising European and Hungarian art and relics its task is to become a venue for the development of a national identity, a tourist destination and the primary basis of learning and knowledge transfer.

Competing teams were : Snøhetta, SANAA, David Chipperfield, Jean Nouvel, Nieto Sobejano, Mecanoo, Davis Brody, Henning Larsen
