In the course of time

We live in a temporary world, everything is threatened to change and be replaced. As humans, we are in need of stability which is why we keep looking for a place that will remain.
I believe that the Stockholm Public Library is one exemple of these places that shall remain. A landmark that will be ultimately recognized by the observer no matter how many years have passed.
In this image I capture this building in a far away future, where the whole surrounding have been replaced by high uncharacteristic skyscrapers. Although the library appears to have been renovated in an effort to merge it with the nearby style, its uniqueness is obvious.
On a cold winter morning, people run along the frozen river, on their way to the library, seeking shelther from the upcoming storm.Their eyes only seek the library and their souls seek the books inside. Those books are timeless, they are the key of the building’s immortality. There is no time for books, as they are a concrete representation of time passed. Therefore, there is no time for a library, it is everlasting. It is a place that remains.

Early Bird Final Submission

Hello !

All the textures you see in this render are made with Substance Painter / Substance Designer, or both. For some textures i started from scratch and for some used Substance Source materials and modified them to my liking. Unwrapping, exporting, importing, going back and forth from 3ds Max to Substance for every object just brings tons of workload (I’m not blaming the software, it is awesome and still pretty much the only way to achieve what i wanted). In the end, the raw render was kind of far from what i expected. So this is where i gave up. Having a full-time job, i realised i just can’t go back and do all the texturing again.

Still, i wanted to finish at least this one scene for my previous efforts. It is very simple : Hdri overcast lighting with a few other lights, 2-leveled environment fog, and a little post production work.

Anyways, thank you for the challenge and i wish good luck to everyone participating.

Stockholm Public Library- Transitional Spaces

Hi everyone, here are my final submissions for the competition. Feel free to leave me any comments, feedback, etc.

For this round of tertiary detail and texturing, I made heavy use of procedural dirt materials using Coronas AO node, as well as several techniques of layering materials with the Corona Layered Material. The people are all 2D and have been re-lit to match the scene lighting. All narrative elements are true to the concept board I posted earlier. Good luck to everyone!

G.Asplund’s Library visualization by Anna Cholan

This competition was very interesting experience for me. The more I learned about the library, the more I
understood how much it overcome. Its architecture shows how important knowledge is in our lives.

When I felt architecture I want to combine its majesty with urban ordinary life. Thus, on the exterior visualization
we can see the light of the rising sun which illuminates the house of knowledge.

For the bustle of everyday life, we forget about the important things that shaped us. We must remember that
without knowledge we would not be today and never will be tomorrow.

Stockholm sunset

I started this competition by trying find good composition to make artistic scene
I tried different views and I saw different visualization studios work like Plompmozes,
MIR, K2, brick, submarine and tomorrow I found some inspirational work.

First image I found interesting photography on instgram (slope street between two
buildings) and lighting mood from submarine studio, Shops were the hardest part
of this composition because I had to do quick interior design for this shops due to
sunset mood I chose.

Second image I inspired by real photography of the library and light mood from
Tomorrow I used soft sun with corona sky and interior lights, I modeled floor manually
and scattered books with railclone.

Third image ( natural one ) I found lots of visualization adding main building within
nature and landscape I chose image from Plompmozes as my main reference for light
and composition, I used corona sun and sky to make morning sun mood then replaced
corona sky with another sky, I added to 2 young people with Photoshop to make the
feel they are going to library in the morning.

The most difficult part of this competition is to find interesting and creative position
unlike those image on the Internet.
I spent a lot time and saw hundreds of images to find good idea.

This challenge was great opportunity to learn professorial architectural composition
I learned a little and I have to spend more time and work to make scene more a artistic
and focus on details like street elements, buildings in the background and adding more
effects, life and depth to the image.

Light and Darkness

Light and Darkness

The theme was light and darkness. Both of the pictures were painless with people. quiet. And I made a picture of a calm atmosphere.

Darkness, the polar opposite to brightness, is understood as a lack of illumination or an absence of visible light.
Light is electromagnetic radiation within a certain portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. The word usually refers to visible light, which is the visible spectrum that is visible to the human eye and is responsible for the sense of sight.
