Crowded Challenge entry by Christopher Lane

Well this is a lot more work than i thought it would be…. think i worked until 3am last night on this… this post is to illustrate what i had accomplished up until that point…. i will be posting another WIP later on today with my current progress.

Using the photo reference that i included in my first post – I picked out elements that i really wanted to include in my final scene. Objects like, AirCon units, Balcony Railings, Windows, Shutters, Doors and even buildings… in particular the clock tower which i want in the background.

I modelled and textured all of the items in this post in separate files first to keep things easy to manage.

Let me know what you think so far… I’m aware that its not perfect at the moment – Once i have composited it all together i plan on going around and fixing any Vray Dirt / mapping issues.

Hope you like it.

This was a very quick sketch that i did over a basic context model to help with scale…. its a very messy drawing… but the idea is to have the tower in the background with restaurants and shops at ground level, with the camera being positioned at eye level.

I really want to try and get across how beautifully chaotic the details were in the streets of Corfu Town upon my visit… with narrow streets, lots of shops / restaurants, plants and exposed building services.

I have already started the modelling of this phase and will try to get a work in progress post out a bit later today.

Hope you like the idea.

A little late to the show – but I’m going to try my hardest to get something done by the deadline.

My inspiration for this project came from a recent holiday that I had over in Corfu which involved a little day trip to Corfu Town. I loved the friendly vibe and architecture of this city… with lots of people, walking around enjoying the sun, eating, drinking and shopping.

I will attempt to replicate this for the competition using photos that i took whilst i was there as reference and inspiration. Software that i will use will be.. of course.. Anima, 3ds Max and Vray.

Hopefully i can finish in time with something half decent.

Best of luck to all other entrants.
