ABOUT ME

Hello! My name is Faber Emilio. I am currently a cum laude graduate architect from the Universidad de Los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia. Architecture is one of my passions, I enjoy when I sit in front of the computer or a project table, draw lines, and imagine spaces that I have always dreamed of. Also, I find incredible the ability of this discipline to create spaces, experiences, and atmospheres that can be beautiful and enriching for those who inhabit it. In this portfolio, you can find a selection of the most representative works of my academic and professional work. Mainly I like to explore new forms of representation and visualization of architectural projects; my goal is that each one of the images in a project tells a story and thus transmits an idea, a message, or arouses a feeling in any spectator of the work. I hope that this compendium demonstrates my passion for architecture, my attention to detail, and, above all, my interest in continuing to learn and explore the frontiers of knowledge.

Twenty twenty, a year built by unexpected events that will be forever etched in our memory. All streets affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the police violence, social protests, inequality, economic crisis, and a divided society, left pieces of fragmented glass in the path of each person.

The ceramics of a bygone time fell and confronted us with a new reality. With each overwhelming event, uncertainty, confusion, and chaos grew in the places we inhabit, while the awaiting and adaptation occurred simultaneously.

If I have to describe this image, I would say that it is a testimony of the present; the workplace of an artisan in the turbulent world we live in today.

FIPC Fundación Social Alberto Merani is the oldest and most important foundation in Colombia dedicated to improving the quality of education without subsidies or donations. It has a network of 100 private and official schools that have managed to match the academic results of rich and developed countries.

The Foundation developed the giga-schools with the vision of bringing thousands and thousands of children from the base of the educational pyramid, to the level of students in rich and developed countries and thus fulfill the mission of solving poverty without using subsidies, through education.

Thus, the objective of the foundation between 2020 and 2030 is to provide free and high-quality education to 100,000 Colombian students, without using subsidies, making free giga-schools in 5 to 10 macro-projects of social housing.

In conclusion, giga-schools are educational establishments that manage to rapidly improve the academic quality of their students through pedagogies and places that break down the barriers of traditional education. These infrastructures are installed on land authorized by the municipality, which must be provided with public service networks. In this way, the Foundation builds the school with its own resources and operates by managing the joint properties; at least until the last student to enter earns her degree.
