The Floating Venice

Our next visualization is created for the underwater luxury vessel resort in Dubai. Venice … it was this city that inspired architects to create this magnificent resort complex. Island recreation areas seem to float in the water. Arches and sand colors of interiors, lots of water with floating gondolas – everything here reminds Venice. In this visualization, we tried to convey the special atmosphere of this beautiful place.

Renovation Project in Paris III

Visualsation of this apartment was the final part of the Parisian project by VisEngine.
The initial task was to fit everything— and a little more — for a normal comfortable lifestyle in a cozy little apartment in Paris. And although the main style of the apartment was dictated by somewhat old-fashioned design of the hotel we didn’t want to make interior look pompous or bulky. On the contrary, our aim was to breathe new life into the old premises adding some air and freshness.
Having that in mind, VisEngine designers focused on practical and simple forms and materials. Natural wood, velvet, brass and art-deco elements allowed us to create an interior that would be a perfect match for the bohemian Paris and contemporary classics.
The layout of the apartment is as simple and practical as possible. Large windows give plenty of light, therefore, light fittings serve not as main but as supporting elements in the room. Thus, we managed to create efficient zoning of the apartment where every zone could be absolutely autonomous in terms of functionality: kitchen, dining room and lounge, though not divided by walls, are still clearly separated from each other.
The entire interior is decorated in subtle pastel colours, which already make it universal for everyone. But in order to add a personal touch to it we decided to mix in some vibrant green shades and decorative brass elements. Green, along with its various gradients, is the main ‘theme’ colour and it has been used not only in ornamental plants, but also for the furniture upholstery and as a dominant shade in the accessories.
And last but not least — an open decorative fireplace which also adds to the coziness and comfort of our interior.

Chapters – Finch House

3D modelling for this project was mainly in SketchUp, based on the architect’s proposed plans and elevations.

The SketchUp file was then imported into 3ds Max where I finished modelling the details and added in the vegetation and scatters using Corona renderer’s in-built tools.

Texturing was a mix of traditional images found online through texture libraries but the white bricks were done using substance designer as was the reconstituted stone details.

Lighting is with Corona Sun and sky only with default settings. The marketing team wanted to convey as much light as possible. My main concern was getting a nice balance of lights and darks in the composition and so tested the Sun in various positions until I had some nice shadows playing off of the surfaces. Sometimes I moved trees to suit the composition to frame elements or so their shadows could play off different surfaces.

I try to complete most of my images in 3d and minimize post production. In this case Photoshop was used to add in the sky and entourage. Other than that I adjusted levels and made colour adjustments. I rendered out a Z-Depth pass which I used for subtle DOF and an inverted version as an atmosphere layer to create a little more depth.

Country Home V2

Country Home V2 is an R&D project I embarked on personally. It is a revisit of an old project we did last year (View old scene here). I decided to recreate the scenes of the project and so placed the design in a more natural environment. The environment was influenced by one of NMachine’s projects – LM Guest House. The simple design of the home alongside the mood of the renders was one to greatly admire and I sought to recreate that sort of ambiance and realism.

The project was worked on in my free time between commercial projects and like I prefer doing, I emphasized on creating a full CGI environment. I have listed links to the resources I used in this simulation.

Country Home V2 project was rendered in Corona, an amazingly forward thinking renderer. It made my workflow almost seamless and I never had to worry about tweaking render settings or what’s not.
