First making-of for 2016 is by Danny Kai, diving into the creation of his Best of Week 21/2015 “Simple Interior” visuals. A simple residential project in Oklahoma that Danny worked on at Vizorium. Skatter for SketchUp v1 was released this week! As a SketchUp user for many years now, it is a great joy for me to help bring this tool to the SketchUp user community. Skatter is the brainchild of Architect and 3D Artist Thomas Hauchecorne, and he did a superb job developing it. Today I’m very happy to share this article by one of our early beta group users, Mads Bjerre from AART Architects. He first shared “The Meadow” in the Skatter Support forums sparking everyone’s imagination as to what can be done with Skatter. Pixelpark‘s ‘Termitary House’ visuals, inspired by the real ‘Termitary House’ in Thanh Khê District, Da Nang, Vietnam designed by Tropical Space Studio, awarded them Best Visualization of the Week NO. 49/2015 for a remarkable CG remake and level of details they went into remaking the house signature feature – The Bricks. Follow this article as they describe the process of creating these highly photorealistic visuals using 3dsmax, GrowFX, V-Ray and just a bit of postwork. Enjoy!
Pixelpark is an Italian studio working in the field of 2D and 3D computer graphic. They are specialized in architectural pre-visualization and the main aspect of their work on which they focus the most is the photo-realistic look of the final images. Pixelpark strongly believes that a good pre-viz is a very efficient tool for architects and engineers to have a complete feeling of their projects.

Marcin ‘NEB’ Jastrzebski’s ‘Queen Alia Airport’ visual, recreating the real deal designed by Foster + Partners in Amman, Jordan, awarded him with Best Visualization of the Week NO. 15/2016 for a remarkable CG remake modeled with Modo and Cinema4d, rendered with Corona Renderer and masterfully orchestrated for the final result in Photoshop. Marcin Jastrzebski works in the field of architectural visualization, he is the founder of NEBULA-GRAFIKA which he runs for a dozen or so years and cooperate with companies from all over the world. This year Marcin stopped the activity of his company and start working as a freelancer to reach outstanding projects and focus on them more personally. He studied philosophy, but his passion is 3D graphics and photography. He was born and lives in Lublin, Poland.

I’ve seen this work by Mark as it was building up and taking shape. What a great finale! awarding him Best of Week 48/2015 and today I’m happy to share the making-of these beautiful visuals by Mark Staddon. Being a Prefab project makes it all the more interesting. Designed by Alchemy Architects and located in Mafra Texas. Mark took some creative license on this one and used 3ds Max, Corona Renderer, and Photoshop to get it done. Enjoy!

Wittaya Wangpuk won best of week 41/2015 with this incredible photo-real 3d recreation of House Gepo by Open Y Office. Wittaya did not try to recreate it 100% like the original, but it sure has the overall look and feel as well as the photographic feel to it. He followed almost every real shot that was made for this house, and today I’m happy to share the making-of this scene. Enjoy!

David Santos is no stranger to the blog, with a very popular article already posted before – The Making of Lake Lugano House. Today he is sharing the process behind making the Sarmiento Museum project in his studio. To recreate this National Historic Monument in the northern suburb of Buenos Aires, Argentina, David and his team used SketchUp, V-Ray for SketchUp and the new Skatter Plugin for SketchUp for scattering all the vegetation in the scene. 360 degree 3d panoramic virtual tours aren’t new. I remember a period more than 10 years ago when we played with this a bit until it was put aside in favor of conquering photorealism. Now that we have defeated the latter, the former is back, riding the VR waves. Photorealism + Immersive Experience geared by the many headsets available today opens up the field once more and we must look beyond the curve for what’s ahead. Let’s start with the most basic of things, introduced by Robert Dukes from Brisbane based rdvisualization studio – A creation of a 360 degree 3d panoramic virtual tour… we will tackle how to get this working inside an Oculus Rift or Gear VR later on.
After working for almost a decade in the real-time visualisation industry on some of Australia’s largest projects Robert is following his passion for 3D Architectural Rendering and Design.

Best of Week 27/2016 by Time Machine was about self learning of both architecture design and new 3d visualization techniques. Victoria and Gaston took Allegorithmic’s Substance Designer and Painter for a spin along with ZBrush as well. Looking ahead we all should explore these tools more. Besides these, they also used 3dsmax, corona renderer and maxtree foliage. Dive into this detailed making of their Garden Loft. Enjoy!

Best of Week 24/2016 by Andrei Mikhalenko was about recreating a strong image he carried in his mind for some time. It was a personal project in which he bonded the winter harvested field concept with a house he designed later on to fit. This work focused heavily on creating the environment using GrowFx and Forest Pack. Besides these, Andrei also used 3dsmax and V-Ray to create the final images.
