    Default Clifton Hill House Animatic

    Hi all,

Really quick into here. I'm currently in my 4th year of studying Arch Vis at Bournemouth Uni in the UK. I'm currently working on my major project for this year and I have just completed the first draft animatic for the up-coming animation. I'd would love for some critics/ideas.

Also I have a question for you all, when watching this... what is your attention focused of throughout each scene? I'd like to know what people are being drawn too.

Note that this is obviously missing all the furniture and interior props but I have included example work to reference from.

Here is the link to the animation on Vimeo:

    Thanks in advance everyone!

    Default The next instalment.

This is the next WIP of my ‘Clifton Hill project’. This week I have started to texture and populate the exterior environment. So far it’s going pretty well, bar the usual hitches along the way. These renders are straight out of Max with a slight S-Curve added. Bushes etc are just the same tree’s sticking out of the floor, nothing exciting, I just don’t have the time to all the extra modelling. The grass and context buildings are yet to be completed as they are are not finalised at all yet. Any questions… feel free to ask!

    Simply wonderful !
I like the general atmosphere, very clear and "clean". The blocks of grass round a bit repetitive but overall the project is complete and super premium.

    Default Thanks all!

Thanks for the kind words, the project is a long way of completion at the moment, this is the first draft so expect many changes/developments to follow! As always any ideas are MORE than welcome.

    Kind regards,

    Tom.

    Default Texturing, stage 2.

Today I have started stage 2 of texturing (I’ve also had time to add a couple of new models and camera angles). Using a-lot of reference for inspiration I have come up with these new renders below. This marks good progress for the interior side of things, let’s just hope I can keep the momentum going over Christmas!

Something I have been experimenting with recently is photographing my own textures, it’s a bit of a lengthy process and as a beginner I’m having to work out the kinks as I go. So far I have successfully created my own parquet floor texture using using a loaned Canon DSLR (Sourced from my living room floor). The texture is extremely high res, so great for close ups and also has it’s own fully customized bump and specular maps (none of that de-saturating the diffuse, messing with the levels and so on…)

The bottom right render is an example of it. I hope to eventually build up a whole library of textures like this as they really do look nice in the renders.

So at this stage I would say I’m approx. 60% on the texturing front and again 60% on interior modelling. Better get a move on!
