Hardware upgrades?

Hey everyone, I was wondering what kind of hardware upgrades I could make to speed up rendering time and quality. I currently own a Lenovo laptop with windows 7 running at 64-bits.

I have an Intel(R) Core i5-2410M with 4 threads running at 2.30 GHz with 6 GB of Ram

I'm not sure what kind of graphics card I have if any. Also, I'm thinking of getting a desktop down the road and was wondering what is a good base one to start with that is easy to upgrade.
