    Default problem with light artifacts

hi, i am having a little problem with my lightning. this problem apears once in a while, not every time.

i am using 3ds max and vray and sometimes there are some white circular spots with black outline that apears in my rendering. it seams to be in the location where the lights of the scene reflected on a surface. it sounds very obvious, but this spots does not look like it should if it was actually a reflection of a light. they are very obvious and stick out like an artifact that is not part of the picture...

maybe someone can solve this mystery and explain why this happenes and how to avoid this problem?

    thanks!

I think the problem in your case would be the high intensity of your lights or hdri, maybe there's something else as well but the solution would be to turn on clamp output and sub pixel mapping in color mapping setting.

    Let me know it helps.

    Default Override material

A good check that I doo when I see some light artifacts in my renders, is to check if it is a light or material problem.
Render the scene with a standard vray grey material as override material. If the light artifacts are gone, then it could be a material problem. If not, it is something else, could be the subdivisions of your light, or your render setup..

best thing u can do is post the render and render setting u use, reason might be the LC settings... it's hard to tell just by your description

Probably your specular highlights are way higher than 1.0 in float value, and that is causing the problem. Can be because a very strong light source or wrong shader setup or both. Sample the white spots with the color picker and you will know what the Real RGB value is. as Rwande said with the clamp output option you can control the maximum value, but if rendering a 32bit output, you will lose the floating point control.

    Hi komi!!!

I think you should already found out the answer for your problem, anywaysss... I will tell

Rwande is right, but all you need to do is to turn on the Sub-Pixel Mapping option on the VRay: Color Mapping section within the Render Setup dialog. In my opinion Clam Output is unnecessary.

    Hope it helps
