Default So when is it starting? And what is it?

I think a lot of people will need a bit of heads-up to when this will start so we can plan work work around it. Would be good to have some rough dates.

Also, what is it? Your email was vague at best... "Named - "Hover" it will focus on that interesting structural feature in architecture." What interesting structural feature?

Vague is good at this stage - still working it out :-)

But i can say that this time you will get a kind of kit of parts, from which you can develop the house / building / extension... it has more design aspects then the previous challenge which will make it interesting and will allow much more creative freedom.

HOVER refers to various situation of elements suspended in air like bridges / cantilever elements of a structure / glass supported solid elements ... the list gos one - I will add an inspiration section to the challenge page publication that i gathered during the past weeks so you can have a better grasp of the possibilities.

I'm still playing with the kit to see it allows maximum flexibility so the creative range will be large. you will be able to place your design in any context as before - solo house on a cliff edge or as a high-rise extension in mid Manhattan! No matter what you do the focus will have to be the depiction of the "HOVER" state.

Sounds interesting Ronen! And the discussion and description above brings Calatrava works into my mind

Actually I am not sure if it will be better to bring the design cirteria into the contest.
First of all, I am not against it and I believe it can be very exciting.
But I have some worries :
I really like this site's specialised, qualified approach to Architectural Renders and Visualisation, serious approach to targeting images technically and visually qualified.
So the principle in previous competition was already offering possibility to add, subtract, modify design elements and this was giving a good amount of freedom to the visual aritst.
Bringing a design criteria into the competition, may risk the focused approaches on Visualisation and people spending more time on design stage.
I will try to give example to explain this:
At the end we can have some
    - Fantastic designs that are visualised bad
-Poor designs that are visualised like a CG Masterpiece
is hard to choose the context or the presentation and which criteria will be more dominant on the other.

I hope I was able to explain my concern and don't cause any misunderstandings.

You made your point very well... In life and our work we sometimes get to work on great designs and sometimes on not so great designs too :-)

While I understand what you say about the technical aspect of visualization, coming form architecture first I feel very strong about the design process too and how the visualization is actually becoming more a part of the process rather then then end presentation only.

Adding the design aspect will really make this event better by adding more value to the Architectural Visualization Subject in general... And yet I really plan to make this simple so anyone can come up with great designs. The design is not a criteria to be judged in itself, though may not be separated from the end result when we look at the image and judge it.

It will be clear soon enough when I post all the information for you to see... Can't wait actually but must work on it a bit more so it will be good. I feel rather excited about the potential possibilities and images all of you can create in this one :-)

One thing I would like you all to consider is to follow me on twitter... it not a must but I use it all the time to highlight posts on the blog and forum and send out news about things I encounter daily that are too small for a blog or forum post but have value - It's really a great way to communicate things rather then sending out emails for example

And you can always un-follow me if you don't like it

    Cheers, Ronen.
