On to something different. Thinking from the prefab aspect I decided to go with shipping containers (53') as the basic building blocks that I will cut, layout etc. then building in the bits of the Hover kit I feel fit best to complete the main structure. Sticking with a waterfall location. Thinking Iceland's green and rocky Plataea and hilly waterfalls like the one below. Still undecided if it should be placed in the water or on the ledge at the edge of the falls.

Some initial concept modeling. Just blocking things out. Decided on cutting the shipping containers @ 45 degrees on either end (offset by 90 degrees) and staggering their position. Haven't opened the interior spaces yet, that's next.

the container idea has fasinated me for some time. an associate of mine was developing "jiffy jails" using them. Heat/Cold was a big issue. He ended up using:
    All About Ceramic Insulation
to do the insulation. If you're not familar with the product. Great idea, can't wait to see where you take this!

Cool, i like the sculptural look of the structure. How are you planning on doing the falling water? tricky one (looks like a river of oil now

Very interesting and cool concept! I like all those container re-used projects :-)

Not sure you have to have a waterfall in this story... but the way you positioned the parts is very nice and I can see some great shots you can make for this.

Keep going! Looking forward for more.

Thanks! Agreed on waterfall. I am perhaps making life harder on myself than need be there . I think I'll continue on the structure for now and worry about the environment later. It could be lake or ocean side or completely urban. Not sure what feels right at this point. I'll keep at it though!

Modeling update. Just started adding in some Hover kit elements. Also put the exterior panels in there. Also starting look at how the levels overlap and where to open them up vertically.

Wow lost track of the time. Not to many days left! So I am ditching the waterfall. I took a walk down to the river near my house and found the setting much more appealing than Icelandic waterfalls (sorry Iceland). So a rocky northeast riverbank is where I am heading now. Also got the interior opened up and connected the three levels. Got some windows in from the hover kit and have started building out the interior.

Hope to decide on the interior composition later today. For the exterior shot I am thinking a low to the water shot up river in a portrait aspect ratio, like the one below. Dusk most likely for time of day. Still not sure if I will stay with Mental Ray or switch over to Maxwell once I get into adding materials.

O.k. trashed the previous comp for a horizontal. The lines of the containers force your eye off the page in the portrait aspect ratio. Started on the rocks, still too oceanic rather than river. Trees will help to settle the local. Need to light the interior and get props in there. Also would like to do an Autumn color scheme. Not too much left to do.

Thanks Annkos! Ya, working on the enviro now, Thinking a later time of day with some up lights and "Floater lights" on the house as well. Loving your house BTW, you nailed the HOVER, from some of your angles it really just floats so nicely! The new trees are great as well!
