    Default James Curtis (jimothwald)

Sorry if I plow straight into it but Ive been buzzing away on the comp without posting. This is where Im at now (with lots to do!). I will post all my workups tomorrow (as its 8pm here now and im still in the office!). Ill also explain where ive used the units and what the whole thing is about as it may be unclear so far from the stills

    Thanks

    Default Workups

The models evolved to this stage so far. This is one of the fingered cantilevers which has all of the units stacked together in linear runs which fly out over the rock face and towards the horizon. They are double banked with a large strip garden/communal space between the flanks.

Towards the bottom are some development stills from 3 weeks ago

    Comments welcomed!

    Default it's massssive..

looks 'bit' of sci-fi stuff =).. I just wonder what about materials,,it should be fancy new 'newer seen stuff' =))) You'll have a headache texturing it with all the fancyness in mind =) no way any wood/steel/concrete is going to work on these 'buildings' =)

Keep going, jimothwald, it will be very interesting to follow Your thread!

Thanks Tom, totally agree with you there, but I think it could be a subtle mix and really take the idea of hover in a new direction! Either way it will take a lot of custom mapping for sure!

    Default Further texture

Started to work with mapping the 1km finger now. I tend to do this in synchrony with further modelling in a kind of painting type process.

Using Lightwave for the outputs so far!

    Default Fabricating

Thought I would add in a few cranes for effect - to give the feel of the quarry being in construction and these vast units slowly being generated over 100s of years. The crane is moving one of the units into position to be slotted onto the 1km finger below.
