Hi Benjamin, regarding my question; if the water level in your main shot is at lower level, what could happen if water level rise 2m upwards?. This dock will be submerged. I was wondering is there alternative scenario for the water approach in that case, or you didn't consider it so important?..

Impressive shots btw, excellent framing and lighting. I love it!

    Cheers

@ Tom: Yes, its Vray and I use Mentor plants "iTrees" (the same guys who sell Vrayscatter). They come in great varieties, but do not hold up too well once up close.
@ isucur: well, to be honest I did not consider it to be very important, lets just assume its a stretch of water without a tidal range. But thanks for pointing it out anyway.

here are some small updates. The vegetation is still very bad, I'll work on that next weekend. Also the rocks will be improved greatly, I just spent around 2 hours on them. I think the sunset scenario looks kind of o.k, I will still do a night version anyway. I also think I will change the black stone cladding for a segmented black anodized metal one. This together with artificial lighting on the exterior might yield some nice effects on the facade.

This building is very interesting. I prefer this last color much more than the bluish one. By the way, the environment is awesome.

Just a general comment for everybody... who's gonna clean the windows?

    I wish you good luck

Fantastic work Benjamin, looking forward to see how will this new anodized metal cladding will assimilate into this kind of environment..Those black one kind of blend in good, but does not give house the chance to "stand out" a little bit.

    Btw, Vray or Maxwell?

    Cheers!

Very nice to see you participating, Benjamin. This is a great start. Very intriguing project. What's your workflow for the rocks? ZBrush, Mudbox? Displaced or normal maps, or decimated geometry?

@isucur: I know what you mean concerning the black blending into the surroundigs, it's a possible problem. I am planing to do a night version however where the facade will be illuminated from hidden/embedded uplights. I hope it will give a nice effect together with the metal material. It's Vray btw.

@Bertrand: Thanks for your compliments, but it's really nothing special so far.
I did the rocks in Mudbox and exported as raw geometry for now (1.6M polygons, so not very heavy) and painted some generic rock textures in photoshop. They lack detail so far and thus appear smaller, although the visible surface stretches for more than 60m. I also hope that the metal cladding will further improve the sense of scale.

I spent the evening improving the rock surface.
If someone is interested I can share some details about the creation, it involves quite a few steps. During the weekend I will work mainly on the exterior- especially the vegetation- before I start to work in earnest on the interior shots.
