@ Stephen : Ahh M8 you beat me to it!!

Quick update - did some concept sketches. Thinking of a cantilevered weekend/summer house over the med.

It's not 100% thrashed out yet but I think if each steel lattice takes 9 modules of 3 x 3 each. Prefab nature allows the house to expand and contract in a linear direction.

The drama will be in how the house interacts with the water that it hover overs. Will have to nail RealFlow to pull this off.

Direction of light coming from horizon - two possible exterior shots so far - one from below to accentuate the hovering of the house, and maybe a distant tree top shot that could capture a sunset/dusk scene.

Also I think there is a great opportunity to link the house to the water in one of the interior shots...maybe using a pool (but not a cliched horizon pool) or framing up a rolling wave such as in the attached photo.

Lots to do still...I'm going to get stuck into finishing up my Rhino remodelling in the meantime.

I STRONGLY believe that you should extend the driveway into a ramp so you can launch off the house. That might just make it the coolest house ever (hovering = hangtime!).

I think this is one of the most interesting and detailed layout yet. Really.

Nicely worked out. Looking forward for this one, for sure.

I really like the concept. I think so far the drawings and the diagrams are one of the strongest here. You're design really emphasises the word 'hover'. The way the frame puts the box out there over the edge. I love how the only connection it has to the land is the frame.

Update - finished remodelling/solid modelling everything in Rhino. This helped me to understand the components extremely well.

Now I'm starting to assemble the components to meet my concept.

I need your help to make a decision. I can't decide between the two different types of steel sections. I've been looking at them for two long and need someone with fresh eyes to give me a crit please.

I can either use the c section which has a lighter appearance or the I section which is much stronger and bolder.

Screen shots attached.

Perhaps I'm over thinking this - also really considering pre-fab concrete lattice beams instead.

Thoughts please?

Just a quick update :

My computer bluescreened over a week ago and I had to reformat my hd...BUMMER!

But in the meantime I was really able to refine my design and I'm now ready to get stuck into the modelling...hoping to start posting regularly again now.
