    Default Robert Mejia

    Hello Everybody,

Looking forward to learning some new things and techniques in this interesting challenge. Will be using 3ds Max 2010, V-Ray and Photoshop.

Here is my first render. No materials yet (apart from the ones that came in the FBX file), just looking around for a good angle for the camera. This one seemed to be the most obvious one Will keep on tweaking the perspective, adding materials and setting up the lighting. Maybe try a dusk scene later on.

    Regards,
    Robert

Kind of liking these two views for the interiors... although I would have preferred to do 2 exterior views and 1 interior

Well, 1 Interior + 1 Exterior is the minimum... you can add more images if you like to your submission.

Your current tests are rather dark, I would expect these interior to be very bright.

Ah, true, sorry, for some reason I was under the impression that it was 2 interiors... just re-read the instructions and in fact it is only 1

Did some work on the landscaping yesterday, changed a few materials, tried different lighting, tried out different effects on photoshop (the first image is the straight render, the second the photoshop one):

I like your second image a lot, the composition looks strong and landscaping seems to work very well for that view!

The references I am using for the location and setting of the project is an area typical of where I live, Puerto Rico. Here is a link to projects from my island being shown in the archdaily website, which relate to the materials I will be using:

I like a lot the architecture of the GH House, I think it is very similar to the modern style of architecture here in Puerto Rico. Our climate here is tropical rainforest, very humid (over 80%) and hot (it's always summer here). Because of this wood is rarely used in construction. It gets mold, rots and is eaten by termites. Metals are not used that often either because they rust easily. We are also in a seismic zone and get hurricanes every year. Because of this almost everything is done in concrete. I will be using materials that are commonly used locally and hopefully illustrating and explaining them.

For the floor surrounding the pool I was thinking of using Coraline stone ("Coralina" in spanish). Here is a closeup of this type of material:
