I think your rocks still look a bit styrofoam. I can't put my finger on it exactly, but i think it's the colour, and that the rocks need to have more patches of a darker colour or something. Either that or you need an extra layer of weeds and moss. Thing is : i actually don't know.

Now, i'm criticising artwork i couldn't do myself at this moment, so i'm probably not in a good position to judge, or maybe this comment is of some use to you.

I also think the water on the floor planks is looking brilliant.

Or maybe the rocks need some small specular highlights to reflect the sunlight.

Just wanted to drop by quickly and thank you guys for the comments and suggestions. I've been a bit swamped lately and haven't had much time to work on the challenge. Good news is that everything I need geometry-wise is in there, I think. Now it's more a matter of playing with POVs, lights and materials - plus endless test renders.

The only thing I did lately was a series of low-res tests. I wont be submitting any of these but I want to put them all in a laid-out .pdf I'll post before I submit the finals. Here's a small selection:

The last image is lovely. The only thing is, it seems to give the illusion that the house expands at the top. But if this is the intended effect then it's ok.
