So these are my finals for this challenge I got them ready just in time, with like 20 minutes to spare
I'm not 100% satisfied, if I had the time (which I don't obviously) heh, I would put some dof in the exterior image and fix a couple of other issues but all in all I'm pretty happy with how they came out in the end.
It's been a great challenge and I would like to take the opportunity to thank Ronen for his hard work, I'm up for the next one for sure.
Maya/mental ray all the way baby!
Cheers!

Wow! i hope you can maintain this ambience, it is really looking real at a glance. This is exactly what it will looks like in real life if photograph, IMO.
looking forward for your progress.

The caustics may be accurate but I think they appear too strong for the image, distracting from the architecture.

They may look more accurate if the background were much darker. I've seen some very strong caustic patterns before at hotels and such but it's always nighttime. Even then they may be just a touch too strong. It's an interesting idea though. Could be part of the design concept to purposely light the pool and use building materials so you get a beautiful caustic pattern at night to shroud the front of the house. Not sure what such a thing might look like during the daytime though.

I like the caustics in the pool, but in the house they seem a little distracting, overpowering the scene.

Good work on the grass!! Think the texture could do with being slightly more varied on the stems to break it up a bit, but the patches of shorter/no grass in the last image is very effective. How many polys have you managed to keep it to?
