Creating VRay for SketchUP Vermont Verde Antique Marble Material

ASGVIS 3D Artist and Trainer, Fernando Rentas, created the Vermont Verde Antique material in V-Ray for SketchUP Using basic material creation techniques as explained in the featured video tutorial “Creating Vermont Verde Antique”. Fernando was able to match the rich green color and unique light green and white veins by looking at a small sample of the marble. Check out the video below, it is very informative and the result is remarkably good.

BRIX by Materialwerk

Materialwerk has just released BRIX, a new tool for 3ds Max & Maya that offers a solution to working with tiled materials (planks, bricks, tiles, mosaics, stone cladding and more). Bertrand Benoit posted a very informative article about his first steps with BRIX you really should take a look at. You can also see some of Bertrand’s tests below.

Six Tuts on Light and Shade with Maya / Mental Ray by Florian Wild

I found this six part interior 3d lighting tutorial a few days ago by Florian Wild. I’m not a Maya or Mental Ray user but there is a lot to learn from this great resource, that can be implemented in any other package, even if two years old!
