Peter Guthrie's Kilburn Vale Visualizations

Peter Guthrie’s Kilburn Vale Visualizations

I just have to share these amazing architecture visualizations by Peter Guthrie – Representing some of his best work. The design is by Gianni Botsford Architects and SketchUP was the modeling tool of choice. I use SketchUP 99% of the time for all modeling, and Peter strives to get most of it done inside SketchUP too, texturing too… the rest is good old 3dsmax & VRay. Remarkable design and visuals! enjoy.

A magnificent virtual remake by Bertrand Benoit of the Bauhaus School at Dessau by Walter Gropius. I especially like the winter snow image and the interior detail shot of the Wassily chair with the glass curtain wall as out of focus background.

The Bauhaus School at Dessau was the brainchild of German architect Walter Gropius. Building it along the lines of what we later came to know as the International Style as well as teaching and developing it day by day by the teachers and students that called this place a home. I love this style and building and Bertrand Benoit gave me a great excuse to post it here as inspiration following his 3d virtual version remake of it.

It is amazing how architects keep reusing the dual box on box basic idea and yet make something unique with style of its own. Gatica House by Felipe Assadi and Francisca Pulido is a great example for that. This set of photos is a great reference for materials such as grass, pebbles, dark stone, concrete & wood. Not sure I like the dark interiors so much but the site and dusk photos are great.

House in Melides / Pedro Reis

Simple design, yet a remarkable impact as shown in this great set of photos by Fernando & Sergio Guerra for this House in Melides, Grândola, Portugal by Pedro Reis. I love just about any of FG+SG photography work. Their large skies and high contrast exterior is kind of a trade mark. There is much to learn from this set as well as an interesting story behind the design of this house that was done in a way of architectural competition among three offices.

Great work, again, by Israeli based Studio Aiko. Check out the Village House animation they created not long ago… And stay clear of the garden gnomes!
