Designconnected Submitted Image Winner / Massimiliano Max Menegale

Congratulations to Massimiliano Max Menegale from Materica Studio for winning the second stage of the DesignConnected giveaway! During the month of August I held that giveaway and the first winner was randomly selected from all who commented in the original DesignConnected giveaway post. Max went for a ‘Nordic’ Interior Style, using shades of gray, showcasing the Lax sofa in the foreground right and Flos Toio Floor Lamp on the background left. Great show case of Designconnected models that awards Max with 15 DesignConnected models of his choice. Big thanks to DesignConnected for sponsoring this giveaway and to all who took part in it… see you in the next one!

Continuing the exploration of NPR techniques of Architectural Visualization like Hybrid 2D/3D Digital Water Color Paintings, I bring you Scott Baumberger’s making of process of the main entrance to a large new aquarium in downtown Toronto, Canada. I’ve featured Scott’s work before in a roundup of several ‘Digital Watercolor’ breakdown videos he made that captivated my attention. Those, along with Les Chylinski’s 2D/3D Hybrid Workflow roundup and Jeremy Kay’s latest making of Urban Plaza and the feedback it got has led me to feature this article by Scott, a precursor of several more to come. Enjoy!

model+model Submitted Image Winner / Giona Andreani

Congratulations to Giona Andreani for winning the second stage of the model+model giveaway! During the month of August I held that giveaway and the first winner was randomly selected from all who commented in the original model+model giveaway post. Giona’s reinterpretation of the Norwegian pavilion at “Biennale di Venezia” as the place for showcasing the Magis Chair One is strong (and nice use of a Free Friday model). They look like small siblings of the tall trees, and overall it could very well be a magazine ad awarding Giona with a model+model Volume of his choice. Big thanks to model+model for sponsoring this giveaway and to all who took part in it… see you in the next one!

He just published his recent work featuring Singapore as the subject. He also seemed to have overhauled his technique for this film, having the focus being more dynamic… wonder what you’ll think of that?

Ramon promised to come back and share his 3d Fabric / Cloth workflow using Marvelous Designer with us. It took some time, but today I’m happy to publish this article about how he used it to create various fabric elements in the scene you see in the image above. Enjoy!
